9.6 Dealing with Paper Problems
9.6.3 Stepper motor problems
Stepper motors are used in printers to position the head and move paper through the printer. Stepper motors are usually trouble free. Overloading, however, can damage the motor. In this situation, replacement of the motor is required. Timing of the print process must be observed. Follow the manufacturer procedure. Improper solder connections on stepper motors have been known to cause intermittent operations. Properly re-soldering these connections will correct this condition.

Note that average technicians should not fix issues such as stepper motor problems. The manufacturer or a certified service technician should repair more severe problems.
