Depending on the network operating system
used, the installation procedure will vary. However, there are some
basic procedures that are common to most networks:
- Printer drivers must be installed to allow the printer to
communicate with the print server.
- A printer name must be assigned so that users on the network
will be able to find and share the printer.
- The output destination information must be supplied so that the
print director will know where to send the print job.
- Setting information and output format details must be identified
so that the network will know how to process the print job.
Most network operating systems have their own utilities to set
up printers with the above listed information. This is called the
"Print Manager" in most Windows operating systems.
