3.9 Booting the System for the First Time
3.9.8 BIOS exit options
There are two BIOS exit options:
  • Exit Without Saving Setup – This setup screen is used to exit the BIOS setup program without saving any modified settings made to the system.
  • Save and Exit Setup – Use this to exit the BIOS setup program and save changes to the CMOS chip. Although there are shortcuts for doing this, always use this exit feature in order to avoid any accidental loss of all of the setup modification entries.

When exiting and saving settings, the computer will restart according to the new configuration. The start up disk can be inserted (DOS or Windows 98, for example), which allows the system to boot to a command prompt. The hard drive can now be partitioned in preparation for installing the operating system.
