The issues that will occur when upgrading
to Windows NT and 2000 will be similar to the issues that occur when
performing Windows 9x upgrades. As with Windows 9x, problems that
occur during upgrades to Windows 2000 will either be hardware or
software related, and sometimes there will be problems with both
hardware and software. Before any upgrade is started, consult the
Microsoft website to see if the hardware is compatible. Check with the manufacturer of the hardware
components and software to see if they have any updated drivers that
are necessary for the upgrade.
Also check that the hardware meets the minimum recommendations
for the upgrade. Microsoft has a list of recommendations on its
website for types of processors and the amount of RAM that is
needed to run the selected operating system. It also includes
recommendations for other hardware components.
