Along with the integrated Help and
Troubleshooting Files that come with the operating system, there are
other resources available. For issues not found in the Help and
Troubleshooting Files database there are other resources including the Windows 9x/NT/2000 Resource Kits and the various Internet
Help/URLs.
Windows 9x/NT/2000 Resource Kits
The Windows 9x/NT/2000 Resource Kits are very useful. There is a
solution for almost every troubleshooting issue in these resource
kits. They provide CDs and textbooks with thousands of pages of
in-depth technical information that provide reference material when
researching a problem. As well as the information that the resource
kits contain, they also provide many added features and
troubleshooting tools that can be installed on the computer systems. For example, they
provide hundreds of additional utilities used to troubleshoot and
maintain the network. These resource kits usually have to be bought
separately, because they are not included with the operating system
installation CD.
Internet Help/URLs
Another place to check for help and troubleshooting aids is on the
Internet. There are many sites available on the web that provide
useful information and topics regarding common Windows operating
system issues. For example, the Microsoft website has a huge database
of troubleshooting pages called the Microsoft TechNet. Other
websites dedicated to troubleshooting and providing help to common
operating system issues can be found by using the search feature.
