11.1 Troubleshooting Basics
11.1.6 Is the problem resolved? (Step 5)
Verifying that the problem is solved is step five in the troubleshooting cycle. After the technician implements the solution, they are responsible for verifying that the system is operating correctly. The technician can run diagnostic tests, visually inspect, and listen to verify that the system is running properly. Then, the technician must verify with the end user that the problem has been fixed. The first goal of a service technician is to ensure that the end user is satisfied.

If the system is operating properly, then the troubleshooting cycle ends successfully.

If the system is not running correctly, the troubleshooting cycle will continue. The technician will be required to undo any changes made to the system and return to the beginning of the troubleshooting cycle. The technician has the freedom to return to the troubleshooting cycle at any step. Each individual circumstance will dictate to which step the technician needs to return. If the technician needs more information, go back to identifying the problem (step one).
