10.3 Computer/Peripheral Hardware PM
10.3.2 Monitor
Since the display unit that is attached to the computer is the most visible piece of equipment, it is a good idea to keep it clean for both looks and functionality. The following concepts apply both to CRT and LCD screen types. When cleaning a display, some common sense should be used. Make sure the device is unplugged from the wall so as not to cause damage if water ends up inside. Using a damp cloth with a mild detergent, wipe down the entire display unit to remove any dust buildup. To remove any cleaner residue, run another cloth, damp with water only, over the surface of the monitor. Be sure not to use too much water so that it does not drip. Once the display has been cleaned, a dry cloth may be used to promptly finish the job. Use care when cleaning the screen portion of the monitor so as not to scratch it.

Caution: If liquid drips inside a CRT display while it is being cleaned, it is advised to let it evaporate. Individuals should not open a CRT display unless they are specifically trained to work inside these units.
