10.1.2 Tools and equipment
Every technician's toolbox should contain a few important pieces of equipment. These items include anti-static vacuum cleaners, canned air, various solvents, and lint free cloths. Anti-static vacuum cleaners should be used whenever computer components are being vacuumed, since normal vacuum cleaners generate static. This means that only a vacuum cleaner that is specially certified for use with a computer should be used. To clean toner from a laser cartridge, an average vacuum should not be used due to the fine consistency of the toner particles. In these cases, a vacuum cleaner with a higher level of filtration is necessary.

Canned air is one of the most useful tools besides lint-free cloths. If the inside of a computer needs to be dusted out, a quick pass through with a can of air will make it very clean. If the outside of a computer case or component needs to be cleaned, a lint-free cloth with some water and mild soap will make it look as good as new.
