Summary
This chapter discussed the basics of Information Technology. Some of the important concepts to retain from this chapter include the following:
  • The advantages and disadvantages of PCs and mainframes
  • Viewing basic system information in notepad
  • Setting and adjusting the desktop properties
  • Using the most effective method of converting number systems
  • The proper safety procedures including when to use the wrist strap in order to reduce the risk of ESD

The next chapter introduces the student to computer theory. It discusses the various components of a computer and explains how these pieces come together to make a functional system.
