1.4 Overview of Software Applications
1.4.6 Web browser and e-mail

A web browser is an application that is used to locate and display pages from the World Wide Web. The two most common browsers are Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer. These are graphical browsers, which means that they can display graphics as well as text. In addition, most modern browsers can present multimedia information, including sound and video, though they require plug-ins for some formats.

E-Mail
Electronic mail (e-mail) is the exchange of computer-stored messages by network communication. Both Netscape and Microsoft include an e-mail utility with their web browsers.
