I think there are distinctions made between girls and boys. Long ago in Japan there was alot of sex discrimination. For example girls had to follow boys. But now, many people have begun to do away with sex discrimination. So, we don't feel in a bad mood about it anymore. But I am anxious about one thing. The names in our register are not put into "alphabetical order" but boys names are written first and the girls come under the boys. I think this is a trace of former discrimination. I can't consent to it. And in my individual opinion it's difficult for me to talk to boys. But I don't know why I can't talk to boys easily. So I should get on well with both boys and girls.

Boys who are easy to talk to are not always cool but the cool boys are difficult to talk to. Boys think more clearly so I like this. In general boys are better at maths and girls are better at arts, but I'm better at maths and poor at arts. I want to be a boy int he next life because they seem to have a better laugh together but they have to be good at sports which I'm not.

<About Girls >

I think that contact with girls is very difficult because girl's emotions are different from those of boys. Boys like girls but boys are hated by girls all over the world because they think boys are dirty.

The girls in my class like boys. The boys in my class hate girls because girls are very noisy. I agree with what American girls in Norborne High School said. Boys are immature. Girls get angry quickly, but girls are kind to girls.Girls are superficial because they care about gossip.

I think that there is a wall between boys and girls, because women can't do the same jobs as men and vice versa. But it is changing, for example there are even male nurses today, so I hope for more social equality.

I'll talk about social inequality. I think it exists still in society. For example if a woman has a baby, she must have a long vacation. After that going back to work is very hard. But nowadays, little by little it is improving. Overcoming discrimination is very important. So I think we should make efforts to overcome it. All people are created equal.

BOY IS.........

by Hitomi Maruyama (girl)

Boy is an opportunity, benefit from him
Boy is a beauty, admire him
Boy is bliss, taste him
Boy is a challenge, meet him
Boy is a duty, complete him
Boy is costly, care for him
Boy is wealth, keep him
Boy is love, enjoy him
Boy is mystery, know him
Boy is a promise, fulfill him
Boy is sorrow, overcome him
Boy is a song, sing him
Boy is a struggle, accept him
Boy is luck, make him
Boy is too precious, do not destroy him
Boy is "a boy",fight for him.

I wrote this as a parody of a poem called 'Life is' which was originally written by Mother Theresa.
