Projekty I*EARN

Kindred

The reason why I have chosen this topic is my neighbour and friend Timko. When I heard About this project I got an idea.I could write about him. This must be interesting,I thought. I was curious about his past. He always looked very solitary.

I got to know him when we moved from town to village. It is not difficult to meet him Because he was living in the house opposite ours. He is nearly 80 years old so I help him with purchases and every third day I bring him Tobacco from the town.

One day I bought him tobacco and asked him for help with my project work. He agreed And next day I visited him. It was Saturday evening and I took my notice book and milk Which my mother bought him and went.I knocked on the door and waited. ""You can come in," I heard,so I came."I bought you a milk," I said." Thank you very much,my darling.Sit down here ,please."he pointed to bed. I sat there and looked over.I was shocked about garbage everywhere.Isaw a mouse run From the door behind cooker.Timko was sitting on the other bed and his infantile eyes branded of ages were looking at me .He started speaking about his parents, His sister and brother.

His father was a fighter in the World War 1. He was injured and had to walk with stick After war. His mother was a housewife. Timko had an older brother. He died because He got cold while he was on the field with his mother in winter. He was two months Old.Ten years after Timkoīs birth his sister was born.He loves very much.He has got Many nice and funny experiences with her.The funniest is when she found that cooker Was warm. She was four years old and it was winter. She didnīt want to have rubber Shoes cold,so she took them into cooker and switched on.

He continued:"I was going to school only few years and then I moved to the other Village to my aunt and I was working on the farm. When I was 16 I started to drink. Not very much, but...the real passion for alcohol showed later. When I was 20 I got To know my wife. Her name was Hana and she was 19.We got married in 1944, Before the end of World War 2.I started to drink regulary.I got more and more Problems and Hana was always ill.We built a house in Suche and moved there. It wasnīt big but enough. Our first child (girl) Blazena was born in the same year. She was beautiful. Then there was born my another daughter called Mariana and Two years after my first son Michal. The year after,Hana was pregnant again, but She had miscariage at the seven month of gravidity. It happened when she fell down From ladder.I was reparing roof and she wanted to help me with something. It was A girl and we burried her at cementary that night.I felt horrible.I thought that Iīd Die.The year after,my second son was born . His name is Dusan. He has been living with Me till now. He is a bachelor and drinks too much. I canīt do anything with it. Our last child was born in 1959 and his name was John.He died in 1961 because he got pneumonia.I get angry when Iīm thinking about this. Now weīve got cures For these simple ilnesses, but my child is dead.I was drinking and Hana was ill till 1989.She died because she was ill and feeble. She died unhappy because...of me."

My Granny told me a story about Timko. My grandmother was married with my grandfather and moved to Suche. One day she was cleaning a car and Timko was walking Down the yard next to house. "Hello,"she greeted and waved with the bottle of detergent."Hello,my darling,"he greeted. Granny put a bottle under the window and cleaned the car.Timko thought that there is someAlcohol in the bottle so he took it and started to drink. When Granny saw what he drank, she Took away the bottle from him and she found that he had drunk nearly half of it! She was very afraid that he was poisoned.Fortunately,he wasnīt. Everybody in the village Thought that my Granny wanted to poison him but then it was explained. When he stopped speaking about his life,he opened a cupboard and took out a little Box from chocolate sweets. He showed me a photo of Hana. "She was beautiful," said I."Yes,I know and I made her unhappy," said he.I felt sorry for him and I didnīt know what I should say. A lot of people from our village are condemming me because of my helping him. I feel good when I visit him and I think that maybe he didnīt live his life like the other People but now he feels sorry for it.He is at the end of his life and I want to make him a little bit happier before he dies.

Thought that my Granny wanted to poison him,but then it was explained.
