The first record about Michalovce was in 1244. Michalovce isn’t a very
big city, but it’s a nice town.

48,000 people live there.
In
the centre of Michalovce there is a dominant sculpture composition named
“Zemplin Spring”.
The
traditions of Michalovce are annual town fairs in August. The fairs date back to the Middle Ages.
Mousson,
an important personality in Zemplin artistic circles, worked in Michalovce in
the early 20th century and
painted these fairs.
Michalovce
is the economical and cultural centre of middle Zemplin with more than 40,000
inhabitants. During 14th and at the beginning of 15th centuries the town of
Michalovce developed into the town in which local and regional markets took
place. In 15th century the town as a main market centre became the most
important of twelve town residences in the
